Uploading listings in bulk using the CSV template

2 min read

Use Case #

If you have a large number of listings to sell across markets, you’ll want to use the Bulk Upload feature. It not only lets you upload multiple listings at once, but also helps automatically match them to existing top-level listings—making your content easier to find. If no suitable matches are found, you can simply unselect the suggestions and proceed with the upload to create new top-level listings.

Bulk Upload Feature #

The bulk upload feature allows you to upload a CSV file with all your listings that must contain the following column names in order:

  • Name*
  • Language*
  • Country
  • Type
  • Distribution
  • Frequency
  • Price
  • Publication ID

Note:

  • *The Name and Language fields are mandatory.
  • If you have a custom source or publication ID, you may include it in your CSV as an additional column.
  • Ensure that you follow the exact column order and use the standard values for Language and Country.
  • You can also refer to the platform’s available options for Type, Distribution (Coverage), and Frequency to help ensure a smooth upload process

To access the bulk listing upload, on the Listings page, click the ‘Add Listing’ button and select the Bulk Upload dropdown option.

Add Listing

Steps:

  1. Drag the CSV file or click on the upload section to select your CSV file.
  1. If you haven’t downloaded our CSV sample template, click on the Download CSV sample button.
  2. You will then be presented with the ‘Upload Summary’ on the left panel and the related items to the currently selected tab.
  1. Below are the explanations of each tab:

1. Ready For Upload

Listings in this tab are ready to be uploaded and will be treated as individual top-level listings. A top-level listing acts like a main category or keyword, helping your listing appear alongside similar ones from other suppliers, making it easier for buyers to discover.

2. Flagged

Listings in the Flagged tab are marked when:

  • Mandatory fields (e.g., Name and Country) are missing
  • Metadata values are invalid (e.g., “USA” instead of “United States” as required in the MT Connect portal)

Listings under this tab will not be uploaded and will require a manual update to your CSV file before re-uploading.

3. Suggested Top-Level Listings

Listings with suggested top-level matches appear in the left panel. By default, all listings with matches are checked, indicating that you agree to use the suggested top-level matches.

You can change a selected match by using the panel on the right side of the page and choosing the closest match available. When you select a suggested match, the metadata from the top-level listing will be applied to your uploaded listing.

For example, if you are uploading:

The Strait Times Singapore, English, Singapore, Newspaper, National, Daily, 3.5, N12359

And you select the following top-level match:

The Strait Times, Chinese, Singapore, Newspaper, National, Daily, 4.0

The final uploaded listing will be:

Top level listing:

The Strait Times

Individual listing details:

The Strait Times Singapore, Chinese, Singapore, Newspaper, National, Daily, 4.0, N12359

Note: The metadata (e.g., language) from the selected top-level listing will replace your original value except for the price during upload.

5. Click on the ‘Complete Upload’ button and confirm your selections.

6. You’ll be redirected to the ‘Inactive’ tab, where you can activate your uploaded listings either in bulk or one by one.

Now that your listings are ready for upload, take the next step with bulk activation.
